Annwn's debut album 'The Lovers Enchained' showed a promising US West Coast take on English folk-rock. 'Come Away To The Hills' is both fuller sounding and more mature an effort smoothening out the rough edges. Billie Mandel and Greg Hines joining original members Leigh Ann Hussey and Elton Wildermuth has broadened the style and made for a fresh beguiling sound. 'Morrison's Jig' recalls a West Coast Fairport/ISB crossover while 'Byker Hill' and 'Matty Groves' get a thorugh dusting down. Original material like 'The Red Queen' and 'Welcome In The May' capture the essence of traditional song. Musically stimulating and intuitive Annwn have produced a semi electric folk-rock sound bordered with psychedelia. A delightful mix... Grab 'Come Away To The Hills' for a fresh perspective on the folk-rock theme.
